the process
We start with browsing raw wood slabs to find high quality pieces without any flaws. We need to consider the wood patterns and characteristics even at the very beginning, so when we join the pieces, the grain remains nice and organic. We cut the wood in 45° that allows making mitered joints – a sophisticated feature that usually high quality, solid wood furniture have.

Having the furniture made of one piece of wood, plus the mitered joints create a beautiful effect: continuous wood grain from the top to the sides and also throughout the drawer fronts. When the assembly is ready, we start finishing the piece. First, we sand it smooth, then apply high-quality furniture oil (it is a natural, environment-friendly oil). When it dries, another light sanding comes before we put the final touch: applying a natural beeswax that helps preserving the wood for decades.

How to mount our floating entryway shelf
Floating shelves have a hidden mounting system. We at mybettershelf, use the french cleat method (read our article to learn more). It is invisible, strong, and easy to mount on any wall type – it takes only two steps:

Mount the french cleat on the wall. Make sure that it is horizontally mounted and always use such screws and wall plugs that are recommended for your wall type.

After that, the only thing to do is just hanging the furniture on the french cleat. Your floating entryway shelf is ready for your everyday usage!
